Celebrating! Happy 2nd Birthday E!
Today was your 2nd birthday party E boy! And what fun you had! We celebrated a few days ago with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Missy, and baby Colin and then today Mimi, Bapa, Alex, Kyle, Amy, Riley, Grant, and Chelsie came over and you had a blast playing with them! Your party was Mickey Mouse themed. This morning we went to get your balloons. They were all in bins at the store. I told you what colors to pick (the colors that were in your Mylar Mickey Mouse balloon) and to get 2 of them. And you did exactly that! Such a smart boy! When the lady was blowing up you were beaming with excitement, laughing, and saying "my party!". I almost cried. It was thee cutest! You had picked up a MM cupcake tower and loved that. We had vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with white frosting, red polka dots, and MM flags on this super cool tower. You loved blowing out your candles and asked to do it a 2nd time! You got a putt putt golf game, markers, paper, Goofy's rescue vehicle, 2 super cool MM books, an airplane that sings and lights up (you opened this one first and didn't want to open anything else...ha!), a great book that we put your picture in and it talks about what you can do when you grow up, and some awesome cards that you were really into! (MM singing cards, Thomas, zoo animals). After we read the growing up book I asked you what you want to be when you grow up and you told me Handy Manny. ha! Out of the blue ~ we hadn't watched it or talked about it in forever! I said oh you want to fix things? You yelled "YA!". ha! Back to today...you held a green balloon all day long. You let Grant and Chelsie take a balloon each home but not your green one! When I ask you how old you are now you tell me 3. So funny! Monday you will bring cupcakes to school to celebrate with your friends in your class. Speaking of...you are doing GREAT in your new class! You love it! Knock on wood, you didn't cry at all last week when I dropped you off! These past 2 years with you have honestly been the best of my life. Daddy's too. We are so proud of you and are amazed daily that we get to be your parents. We feel so blessed and lucky. You have a great heart, are adorable inside and out, have an awesome sense of humor, and are loving, smart, and a joy to be around!

So very smart!
I am going to try to update this more often, even if its just little tidbits here and there. I can't believe how smart you are E, for such a little boy. You are just a few days post your 2nd birthday (which we haven't celebrated yet...we are waiting until all of your friends are healthy so you can have a super fun time at your party...hopefully next weekend!). Some examples of why I am amazed at how smart you are:
Tonight we met Mimi at the mall. Its been about 2 weeks, maybe almost 3, since we've seen her. About 20 minutes after we get there, we were walking through the mall and Mimi & I were chatting (nothing about you nor to you). You out of the blue said "I missed you Mimi". WOW ~ amazed me for a few reasons. 1) what a great job you did expressing your feelings, 2) astounds me that you even understand what the word "miss" means and 3) you now realize time - - you knew it had been a while since we had seen her.
We had been in the car for quite a while so when we got to the mall I didn't put you in your stroller because I figured it would feel good to walk and stretch your legs. You stayed by us the whole time in both the store we went in and in the mall. I was very impressed that you would listen when we would tell you which way to go and tell you to wait for us or come with us. You have been starting to throw temper tantrums lately when you don't get your way and I was skeptical about letting you walk vs ride in the stroller tonight and I'm so proud of you for listening the whole time.
You have been crying lately, for a couple wks or so, when I put you to bed (since you've had the flu you've also been waking in the middle of the night crying for me and will ONLY go back to sleep if Daddy goes up and tells you to lay down and go back to sleep...if I do you continue to cry and cry and cry and yell for me to come back). Anyways, last night Daddy and I had a talk with you not to cry when I put you to bed and you didn't cry! So very smart. Tonight ~ same thing. Before I put you down I said "now Littles (still your nickname)...its time for bed but don't cry ok...I will see you in the morning". And again, you didn't cry! I also told you tonight that if you wake up in the night not to cry, just to push your rain forest button and go back to sleep...oh how nice it would be if you listened to that advice too! (wishful thinking!)
You started your new class at school on Tuesday. Now you are in the 2's. The 1st day you cried when I left but had a great day ~ did extremely well all day in there. Yesterday and today you did not cry when I left (made me soooo very happy!) and had excellent days! Your new teachers are great and love you already, and your best buddy Bobby is in that class so you enjoy playing with him. Such a big boy...you have your own chair that has your name on it that you find. You drink from a big boy cup without a lid ~ your teachers said you did VERY well with that. You enjoy doing that at home too so you've gotten lots of practice with that :) There is a potty in your classroom. You are not quite ready for potty training yet but your teacher said you wanted to sit on it and when she put you on there (its a mini potty) you are so little that you fell in. ha. You thought it was funny. Your new teacher told me this morning that when she has a baby she would love it if he was just like you. What a compliment. Yes, you are a very special boy indeed. Fun, sweet, caring, great sense of humor, adorable, and loving. I am the luckiest Mommy in the world!

Go Away Flu Season!
Welp, last year on your 1st birthday Mommy got a horrible flu (I was glad it was me vs you but still devastated to be sick on your very 1st bday!). This year it was Daddy, now you, that got the flu :( You're a trooper though and still have managed to be the silly little guy you are through it. You were sick on Sat. then seemed fine on Sunday all day long. Then Mon. I get a call from daycare that you are laying on the floor w/ your taggie crying. Broke my heart. Today is Wed. and you're still not up to par. Not throwing up anymore, but still lethargic and not eating much. My poor little gentleman :( Tomorrow is the make or break your party day. If you are feeling better I will sanitize the house over and over again and air it on while we wait for Sunday to arrive when our family will come over to celebrate your 2nd birthday!!! If not, we'll have to reschedule it for next week and enjoy your birthday with just us. I hope for the 1st of those options bc although you don't realize WHEN your party will be...you are excited and tell me often you are having a Mickey Mouse party! You even picked out your own invitations! Such a big boy! I can't wait to celebrate with you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Your Daddy and I love you more than anything in this whole wide world!!!
