wow i really can't believe how fast time is going. you no longer seem like a baby - - as much as i miss holding you and cuddling you in my bed when i wake up in the middle of the night, the excitement of seeing you as an incredibly smart toddler learning new things everyday outweighs my "baby" sadness. i need to start randomly documenting more bc it is absolutely incredible the new things you are doing literally each and every day!
when you have a play phone or cell phone you hold it up way behind your ear at the back of your head and say your own version of hello. we know it means hello bc you say the same thing every time. it somewhat sounds like the correct word. ha. either way it is adorable!
you now say kitty, dog, mama, dada, you've said bapa a couple of times, more, hello, ...
you make sounds for dog, cat, duck, elephant, ...
this morning when you were watching your dorothy the dinosaur dvd you hopped like a kangaroo like the postman did and you dance like they do - - it is really something to see!
yesterday we had a very special moment. your great grandma is nearing the end of her life and asked to see you. she is on hospice and was just transferred to a rehab floor at a nursing home from the hospital so i was able to bring you there last night. she was sitting up in a chair, but not very coherent. we told her you were there and i just began telling her new things you were doing and how much teeth you are getting. she became very alert and talked about the face expressions you were making and am i cleaning your teeth yet. i know you won't remember her, but she is a very very neat lady that your daddy will share stories about with you when you're bigger. i've known her for the time daddy and i have been together, about 7 years - and she's become like a grandma to me. in fact, i'm closer to her than my own grandma's. she began to get a bit unsettled after a bit and just kept repeating "my babies, my babies". i told her she got to meet your brand new baby cousin the night before, and now she was getting to spend time with you - - and that baby colin and baby evan love her very much. her speech is slurred and difficult to understand but she said a very clear "thank you". melted me. she loves you so very very much, you were blessed to have her in your 1st year of life.
your aunt missy had baby colin feb. 24th. he weighted 9lb12oz! he has long black hair and is adorable. i can't wait to watch you guys play together in a few years! it is so nice now that you have cousins on both sides of the family!
yesterday after visiting great grandma we went to grandma & grandpa's house and we were amazed by something you did. grandpa had some golf balls laying in the living room and there was a putter nearby propped up against the wall. you began throwing the balls behind your shoulder like you do with all balls (which is hilarious). then you got up, went and got the putter and began swinging it like a golfer does! no one has ever shown you this so i guess at some point you've seen it on tv??? i showed you how to hit the ball 1 time and you then did it over and over again and looked so proud when we would cheer. impressive!!! you are just so so smart!!!
knock on wood, you are an excellent eater. you eat everything that we do. you even eat your veggies, no matter what kind they are! you don't drink all that great though so we are still giving you 2 bottles/day. 1 in the early morning when you wake up and 1 (usually) in the late afternoon.
i can't give a teeth count bc you are getting SO many! poor little gentleman - - today was a rough day for you - they were driving you crazy but motrin and some cold teethers helped. you went from having 6 about a month ago - 4 on top & 2 on bottom, to having i would guess at least 12! you got your molors a few weeks ago when you were so sick at the beginning of march, and now it seems that you're getting a whole mouthful!
tonight your cousins alex & kyle are spending the night. you love them so very much and try to do everything they do. yet i noticed tonight that you are blossoming even more into your own person and doing what you want when you want. ie: standing in the tub while the other 2 boys were sitting. you didn't give a rats - you wanted to stand! little stinker!
you met the easter bunny today!!! and you liked him! you smiled at him immediately and even smiled and remained a happy boy while sitting on his lap!
you are not shy at all which is a fabulous trait - - mommy was a shy little girl and it was a bit rough for all. we go play at the mall and most times there are tons of kids -mostly big kids. and you immediately want to go join in the mix.
one extremely exciting thing for daddy and i over the past week is to watch you, for the 1st time, run around in the back yard! this is yet another thing i used to daydream about when i was on bed rest pregnant with you. now watching you do it is truly a dream come true. you laugh and run and scream with joy as we chase you or throw a ball to you.
we love you so much evan and are enjoying every single moment with you.
OH - and you are FINALLY sleeping in your own crib all night - - most or hmmm, some nights. ha! one big milestone is that if you do wake up in the night and we have to go up there, you will go back to sleep in your crib vs us bringing you down w/ us in our bed. i think you are getting much better sleep. and those times i wake up and hear you and look at the clock and its around 5/5:30 i think yeay - - you did it!!!!! i'm crossing my fingers for a night like that tonight :) if you don't eat a good dinner (happened last night) you wake up often during the night. i fed you a bottle at 1:30 which you scarfed down but you still woke up a couple more times - - not a restful night. well, except for daddy who said this morning - e slept all night, huh? ummmm so you and i didn't get good rest. apparently daddy, max, and salsa DID! :)
